20 New Habits For The New Year

Hope you’ve all had a nice, relaxing break. The New Year is just a few days away, and it’s likely that many of you are preparing to bring some new changes into your lives.

It’s chance for a fresh start; a time to develop some new healthy habits.

Sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start, so to give you some food for thought, I thought I’d compile a short list of habits that you could maybe try to work towards. To help make your next year a happy, healthy, more meaningful one.

Maybe just pick a few that resonate with you the most, and feel free to throw away the rest.

1. Meditate regularly. 

2. Practice breathing properly.

3. Move towards a whole food plant based diet.

4. Look after your body with regular, varied exercise.

5. Upgrade your sleep.

6. Visit a chiropractor, get your nervous system functioning properly.

7. Start following your passion, take action.

8. Reconnect with old friends.

9. Read regularly, stand on the shoulders of giants.

10. Keep a regular journal.

11. Forgive people, don’t hold a grudge.

12. Perform random acts of kindness.

13. Practice being empathetic.

14. Laugh, smile and play more.

15. Learn a new skill, and keep practising.

16. Do something creative.

17. Practice non-resistance, go with the flow.

18. Volunteer your time to a charitable cause. 

19. Travel to that place you’ve always wanted to go. 

20. Be content and appreciate what you have.


As we’ve talked about before, the best way to make making lasting changes is to pick one or two habits, take them slow, and build gradually. Think sustainable, rather than making a quick fix.

Take it easy, don’t take on too much at once, and enjoy yourself.
